Happy Fall! Here are a few upcoming events:
Meet and Greet for Student Veterans. Thursday, 13 October. St. Albans Academic Center, 4:30pm to 5:45pm. No charge. Did you know that the St. Albans Academic Center has the second highest number of student veterans at CCV? Did you know that CCV now has the highest number of Military Connected Students of any Vermont college? Based on requests from several of our student veterans, we will be holding a “Meet and Greet” for Student Veterans. Come in, enjoy some snacks, and connect with other CCV student veterans in the area. Please RSVP to Chara Lee if you would like to attend so we can be sure to have enough food and materials for everyone.
Governor’s CRC, Military/Veteran-Specific Section. Information Session and Open House. Tuesday 18 October, 5pm – 7pm. Room #9, St. Albans Academic Center. No charge. Come in and learn about the upcoming CRC section designed for military service members and veterans. Receive an overview of the CRC program, WorkKeys, KeyTrain, and meet your instructors while learning about why this course will benefit YOU!
Governor’s Career Ready Course, Military/Veteran-Specific Section. Tuesdays and Fridays 11/1 – 12/16. St. Albans Academic Center, 2:45 – 5:45pm. No charge to participants. “Are You Hirable?” This 6-week fast track course is designed specifically for military service members and/or veterans. The course is team-taught by CCV faculty who are also veterans. Learn to successfully translate your military experience to the civilian job market. Further develop your skills with computers, math, and locating information. Learn about starting and growing your own business. Refine your resume and interviewing skills. Build a professional portfolio to use in getting the job you want. Registration Required. Contact Chara Lee Vincelette if you wish to be registered for this course.
We will continue to update our student veteran blog as well as our veterans’ benefits page on our public website: (http://www.ccv.edu/veterans_benefits/index.html) throughout the semester. If you would like to contribute to our blog, please let me know. One thing I want to start soon is to showcase our CCV Military Connected Students on a monthly basis on our blog. Please let me know if you are willing to let me interview you and/or if you have pictures we could use.
I am located in the St. Albans center on Tuesdays and Thursdays but am available via email (chara.vincelette@ccv.edu) anytime.
